Contrast ratio measures the difference in brightness between text and its background. Higher is easier to read.
WCAG asks for at least 4.5:1 for body text and 3:1 for large text and interface parts such as borders and icons.

How much lighter or darker one color is than another, from 1:1 to 21:1.
